Stand Up Comedy Night

So yesterday was my first time going to a stand up comedy show in Kuwait. I thought it was just going to be Fahad AlButairi and Ebraheem AlKhairallah little did I know there were 3 opening acts and I was dying slowly, it started with Zaghlool and he was TERRIBLE we were laughing out of pity, then there was a Kuwaiti guy who was below average after that AlBasri who started off being funny then he probably got nervous, and the Presenter AlNijadi OH MY GOD just shut up so annoying and trying so hard to be a comedian, bad is an understatement on how the show started off last night. and also, it was outdoors so the weather wasn’t helping.

Finally, the good part :)

Ebraheem AlKhairallah showed up AT LAST and he was HILARIOUS we couldn’t stop laughing, the jokes were quick, easy to get and effortless. Then Fahad Al Butairi, he was funny as well.

Thank God I left with a smile on my face, the last two were really good.

and now i’ll leave you with Fahad AlButairis’ video

Skinny Fat love days

We like to talk (and by talk, I obviously mean write and post videos..duh?)

Some things we know nothing about, while others we know quite a bit about. Regardless of our knowledge base, the common denominator is that we like to talk and write about everything. Having said that, we don’t want this blog to be some hodge podge of randomness, because we are neat people! Therefore, we have devised a plan. One for the ages! Below is our daily schedule of posts. Each day signifies a certain genre/theme of posts that we will do our best to abide by, and if we notice that certain posts/themes are garnering more attention than others, we will rethink and revisit this at a later undetermined time.

Murky Mondays: because sometimes even we don’t know what we will be posting about. This day is a murky post day. We can post about anything and everything. Including this, and possibly this too.

Tailored Tuesdays: This is where The Skinny One gets to shine with her love of fashion (and fashion blogs). These days will be dedicated to fashion and beauty.

Work Out Wednesdays: My absolute fav! The day we get to share with you our work outs of the week, and the newest trends in exercise and weight loss.

Thirsty Thursdays: Restaurant review day! OR food review day, or restaurant and food day. Basically, yummy pictures.

Fried-days: Every week has it’s challenges, and we like to face those challenges with open minds and open mouths. I give to you fried-day, because sometimes you need a plate of fries with a chocolate shake, and then also a side of onion rings and dipping cheese.

Sat-at-home-day: This post is making me tired. All my posts make me tired, and because I have made a commitment to you (because I love you, you undisclosed number of readers) I will post as many times as it takes to make you happy, but Saturdays are a day of rest and tranquility, and if that means I don’t have time to post then so be it. You will accept this as fact and move on.

Sunday Funday: Sunday is actually my favorite day of the week. It’s the day I work out, have brunch and then do nothing all day. This day’s posts will most likely be of this nature, or this, or this. If it’s fun or funny, it will be posted on this day. So if you want to skip every other day of the week and just check in on Sundays, I will not blame nor judge you.

Ubon

Today was my first time to Ubon, heard lots of good feedback and that the place was packed so I had to call in advance to make sure how long the wait was, but luckily we went without calling and found us a table, the place was packed but with girls only. Loved the place and the atmosphere, I have a thing for tiny restaurants it just feels cozier and the waiters were adorable, very sweet and helpful.

My friend and I ordered their Wonton Shrimps, Pineapple Fried Rice, Pink Curry Noodles, Garlic Rice and Green Curry with Chicken.

We started our meal with the Shrimp Wonton it was good and light.

Then we had the Pink Curry Noodles, didn’t like it that much, it was too soft and saucy.

We then had the Pineapple Fried Rice, I liked it, it was exotic but I just felt that the pineapple chunks were taking over the rice flavor but overall good.

My favorite dish was the garlic rice with the green curry with chicken it was AMAZING. Sadly didn’t take any pics :(

Overall good experience but was expecting more, will give it another shot for sure.

I know the pics are too dark but that’s only because the place is too dark :p

How to effectively lose weight

First, look at this:

Then, remember that this is what you want to look like when in a bikini/lingerie:

And possibly remember this as when you started your fetish with daisy dukes:

Then (and this is when it takes a turn for the worst), start coming to the realization that you probably don’t want to look like this:

And most definitely DO NOT want to look like this:

and while you really would much rather look like her:

You love your curves, and would not be sad in the least if your body looked like this:

but even she works out religiously. SO STOP EATING AND GO TO THE GYM.

Look for the things you ate throughout the day, and you can also add your workouts! It may not be 100% accurate, but it helps you stay on the safe side.

Beware its addictive.

My Exercise Regimen: Week 1

I’m a busy girl. Having said this, I also haven’t been prioritizing working out, but all of this ends today. With my imminent return to the homeland, I have taken it upon myself to start going to the gym 6 days a week. Yes, you read correctly. SIX days a week. That leaves one day for my body to process how much it hates and loves me at the same time.

Since I am quite busy (doing a lot of things that I care not to divulge right now), my schedule is weird. I only have a random hour here and there to actually make it to the gym which isn’t the best way to start working out. I like a good 3 hour span of free time so that I can walk around the gym, then work out, then check my phone, then work out, then eat a granola bar, then work out, then shower. One hour is just -impossible (said in a french accent of course).

HOWEVER, given my body’s current sad state of affairs. I will forego my usual 3 hour rule and will go the gym at least ONCE a day for SIX days-even if it means I’m in for a quick 30 minute cardio session. Below is my oh-so-coveted work out schedule for this week:

Tuesday: Live DJ Spinning 5:30-6:20PM

Wednesday: Spinning 6:00-6:50AM  –That’s right AM, now that’s dedication.

Thursday: Free Weights 3:30-4:30PM

Friday: Body Pump 5:30-6:30PM

Saturday: Spinning 10:00-10:50AM and Body Pump 11:30-12:30PM

Sunday: Spinning 10:00-10:50AM and Muscle Definition 11:00-12:00PM

** Disclaimer: The woman in the picture is NOT me even though the resemblance is uncanny.

the skinny one on deck

I have been baking since 2009, but i originally started with Pillsbury/Betty Crocker ready-made mix, and although all I did was add water, oil, and eggs- it was AWESOME. So, I decided to take it to the next level by making things up. Next think you know, I’m making red velvet cupcakes, cheesecakes and pecan pies all from scratch. I have to admit, I’m a pretty great baker (it sounds cocky, but that’s because I’m cocky). I usually only have a small sliver from whatever it is I’m baking. I’m not sure why that is, but they say you never enjoy eating what you make because you’ve been through the entire process of actually making it, and something about getting full from the smell of it or some other bullshit like that.

I like baking mostly because it relieves my super stressful life of doing nothing all day, and I enjoy watching other people eat (and enjoy) something that I’ve made, and then go back for seconds! It makes me feel appreciated, generous, and SKINNY–because I don’t eat that crap hah. Over the past few years, I’ve accumulated dozens upon dozens of cookbooks, and look through them whenever I have a spare minute. I fold the pages that I like and then I go back and try to try out as many recipes as I can.

My advice for you if you want to be a great baker is to be fearless and patient. Things might not turn out the way you want them to, but don’t give up just yet. Start with something simple on your first few thousand attempts until you feel like you can master it, then move on to something a little more complicated and complex. Now that I’ve been forced to write daily posts, I will be posting my daily food experiments, which will almost always not be the healthiest-but it also provides a challenge for me to come up with tasty desserts that are low in calories and good for you.

We shall see how that works out for me- until then I bid you adieu my health babies!

My latest purchase and my first post simultaneously

Hi everyone! This is my very first post, and while the Fat One is on the right track with her posts about food and health, I like to go on random tangents whenever I can. So I got these patent black wedges from Zara, and I’m SO happy hah! I’ve been looking everywhere for them, and they are really comfortable, and not that high which makes them super practical.

Yes, I WILL be posting every time I buy something, which adds up to like TWO whole posts a month. I kid. What do you guys think??

Going to Bar Toma for dinner tonight

I’ll be going to Bar Toma tonight with a friend, any suggestions on orders? I’m leaning towards the calamari, the hand rolled and stuffed mozzarella, and the power pizza, but I’m open to suggestions (as long as they remain pescatarian-friendly of course!)

Fishies

Recently, I’ve altered my diet in a very drastic way. I’ve stopped eating an entire food group, and have felt SO much better about what I put into my digestive system since. No I am not a vegetarian, but I would say I’m cutting it pretty close.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have become a  pescatarian.

Now for all of you who have no idea what a pescatarian is (which is probably most of you), a pescatarian is someone who eats like a vegetarian but also eats seafood. Therefore, I no longer eat chicken and meat. I haven’t been a pesca for long, it’s only been two weeks since I’ve made this life altering decision, but I’m quite content with it, and except for a small incident where I nearly shoved a burger down my throat ate a burger it’s been going well. The pescatarians I know say that the first month is the hardest, and since I’m halfway through I’m not too worried about the rest.

I’m a pescatarian because:

1. I LOVE fish. In fact, it makes up 85% of what I eat most of the time. I like all kinds of fish, and I absolutely adore sushi. Therefore, it wasn’t a completely out of the question assumption to make that at some point fish would make up the majority (if not all) of my diet mercury poisoning or not.

2. I love animals too much that I can’t bear the thought of eating them anymore! Yeah I’m THAT kind of pescatarian. Plus, I’ve recently started watching Planet Earth and if there’s anything you could watch that would reaffirm your beliefs in not eating animals, this would be it.

3. While I believe that meat is good for you, I think the over consumption of it (or anything really) is harmful, and I am on my way towards being that really annoying girl that looks at everyone at the table when ordering and goes “really?”.

Let me disclaim everything I’ve stated by saying that you do not have to be a pescatarian to be healthy. In fact, the majority of health and fitness freaks that I know are all about the lean meats. This is just something that I wanted to do, and that miraculously fits perfectly into my diet. If you have any questions or want to know some GREAT recipes for veggie burgers and meat substitutes just let me know! For now, I leave you with this:
