So yesterday was my first time going to a stand up comedy show in Kuwait. I thought it was just going to be Fahad AlButairi and Ebraheem AlKhairallah little did I know there were 3 opening acts and I was dying slowly, it started with Zaghlool and he was TERRIBLE we were laughing out of pity, then there was a Kuwaiti guy who was below average after that AlBasri who started off being funny then he probably got nervous, and the Presenter AlNijadi OH MY GOD just shut up so annoying and trying so hard to be a comedian, bad is an understatement on how the show started off last night. and also, it was outdoors so the weather wasn’t helping.
Finally, the good part :)
Ebraheem AlKhairallah showed up AT LAST and he was HILARIOUS we couldn’t stop laughing, the jokes were quick, easy to get and effortless. Then Fahad Al Butairi, he was funny as well.
Thank God I left with a smile on my face, the last two were really good.
and now i’ll leave you with Fahad AlButairis’ video
We like to talk (and by talk, I obviously mean write and post videos..duh?)
Some things we know nothing about, while others we know quite a bit about. Regardless of our knowledge base, the common denominator is that we like to talk and write about everything. Having said that, we don’t want this blog to be some hodge podge of randomness, because we are neat people! Therefore, we have devised a plan. One for the ages! Below is our daily schedule of posts. Each day signifies a certain genre/theme of posts that we will do our best to abide by, and if we notice that certain posts/themes are garnering more attention than others, we will rethink and revisit this at a later undetermined time.
Murky Mondays: because sometimes even we don’t know what we will be posting about. This day is a murky post day. We can post about anything and everything. Including this, and possibly this too.
Tailored Tuesdays: This is where The Skinny One gets to shine with her love of fashion (and fashion blogs). These days will be dedicated to fashion and beauty.
Work Out Wednesdays: My absolute fav! The day we get to share with you our work outs of the week, and the newest trends in exercise and weight loss.
Thirsty Thursdays: Restaurant review day! OR food review day, or restaurant and food day. Basically, yummy pictures.
Fried-days: Every week has it’s challenges, and we like to face those challenges with open minds and open mouths. I give to you fried-day, because sometimes you need a plate of fries with a chocolate shake, and then also a side of onion rings and dipping cheese.
Sat-at-home-day: This post is making me tired. All my posts make me tired, and because I have made a commitment to you (because I love you, you undisclosed number of readers) I will post as many times as it takes to make you happy, but Saturdays are a day of rest and tranquility, and if that means I don’t have time to post then so be it. You will accept this as fact and move on.
Sunday Funday: Sunday is actually my favorite day of the week. It’s the day I work out, have brunch and then do nothing all day. This day’s posts will most likely be of this nature, or this, or this. If it’s fun or funny, it will be posted on this day. So if you want to skip every other day of the week and just check in on Sundays, I will not blame nor judge you.
I have been baking since 2009, but i originally started with Pillsbury/Betty Crocker ready-made mix, and although all I did was add water, oil, and eggs- it was AWESOME. So, I decided to take it to the next level by making things up. Next think you know, I’m making red velvet cupcakes, cheesecakes and pecan pies all from scratch. I have to admit, I’m a pretty great baker (it sounds cocky, but that’s because I’m cocky). I usually only have a small sliver from whatever it is I’m baking. I’m not sure why that is, but they say you never enjoy eating what you make because you’ve been through the entire process of actually making it, and something about getting full from the smell of it or some other bullshit like that.
I like baking mostly because it relieves my super stressful life of doing nothing all day, and I enjoy watching other people eat (and enjoy) something that I’ve made, and then go back for seconds! It makes me feel appreciated, generous, and SKINNY–because I don’t eat that crap hah. Over the past few years, I’ve accumulated dozens upon dozens of cookbooks, and look through them whenever I have a spare minute. I fold the pages that I like and then I go back and try to try out as many recipes as I can.
My advice for you if you want to be a great baker is to be fearless and patient. Things might not turn out the way you want them to, but don’t give up just yet. Start with something simple on your first few thousand attempts until you feel like you can master it, then move on to something a little more complicated and complex. Now that I’ve been forced to write daily posts, I will be posting my daily food experiments, which will almost always not be the healthiest-but it also provides a challenge for me to come up with tasty desserts that are low in calories and good for you.
We shall see how that works out for me- until then I bid you adieu my health babies!
Hi everyone! This is my very first post, and while the Fat One is on the right track with her posts about food and health, I like to go on random tangents whenever I can. So I got these patent black wedges from Zara, and I’m SO happy hah! I’ve been looking everywhere for them, and they are really comfortable, and not that high which makes them super practical.
Yes, I WILL be posting every time I buy something, which adds up to like TWO whole posts a month. I kid. What do you guys think??
I’ll be going to Bar Toma tonight with a friend, any suggestions on orders? I’m leaning towards the calamari, the hand rolled and stuffed mozzarella, and the power pizza, but I’m open to suggestions (as long as they remain pescatarian-friendly of course!)
A lot of people ask what makes us qualified to write about all of this (that’s not true- no one has asked yet, but I’m sure they will and this is a preemptive strike against any and all inquiries into our credibility)- We don’t necessarily have any degrees in nutrition or health, nor are we by any stretch of the word health freaks and food fanatics. However, we have the ability to write, read way more than we should, and tend to be quite loud with our opinions. The beauty of a blog –or website- is that you only need one of the above mentioned attributes. Having all three is just downright fancy.
The initial reasoning behind this blog was that The Skinny and I have some free time on our hands. We have both graduated college (albeit me having the better degrees hah) and while we remain in different countries for the moment- we both like to give back in some way or another. The name “Skinny Fat Love” is derived from our love of health, food, and everything in between. While the majority of posts in the beginning will most likely be about The Skinny’s cooking, or my ridiculously informative health posts, there will also be a transition into other things we love; in my case, book reviews and useless information, and in The Skinny’s case horseback riding, and useless activities.
